I know I promised to avoid talk of the weather, but I would just like to point out the fact that Cornell days pretty much just ended, and the weather's horrible. Just as predicted. Now, on to better things.
OK Go was amazing. The music was fantastic and they had great visuals to accompany it as well. The lead singer was hilarious (and a nerd, which is always a plus), and seemed to be down-to-earth, which is understandable for a fun-loving band like them. They didn't have treadmills on stage, but it was epic nonetheless. They did a song with only hand-bells for instruments, which was realy awesome. And they had a set of chimes for music. Chimes. I mean, seriously, you know just from that that they're good. One thing I noticed though:
Not sure Ithaca
is the right place to sing 'bout
Average people
In their song "What to do," the chorus has a part that goes "mediocre people do exceptional things all the time." Now, I don't mean to sound cocky, but Ithaca is not necessarily a good town to be singing about mediocre people. I mean, some people might feel mediocre after getting Cs on all of their exams, but in general I'd like to think that the people here are slightly better than mediocre. Like, I'd think we'd be at least commonplace or humdrum. Honestly.

Middle-of-Nowhere, New York
It's the weekend! And much of the snow has been replaced with slush (oh joy!). I hate slush. I wish snow could just go away without turning into slush. Or just stay as snow forever.
Now what to talk about. Lots of essays and such due this coming week. And lots of events going on this weekend, including multiple concerts, Asia night, and a drag show. That's Cornell for you. It's a city within itself, and I guess that's my topic.
It's nice. Cornell is
In the middle of nowhere
But you don't notice
Really, Cornell is in the middle of upstate New York, hours from civilization. However, we have so many people here that it becomes a city within itself. Thanks to programs such as the Concert Commission and the Programming Board, we have fantastic speakers and musicians who come, which makes us feel not too isolated, and we have enough people here to feel like we're in the center of the universe. Of course, when you realize that there isn't a Trader Joe's for hundreds of miles or that your favorite restaurant chain is hours away, you start to realize that Ithaca is not a real place, and if it were not for Cornell, we'd be the same as any other town around here (speaking of which, I can't name any of our bordering towns, and I'm sure that most Cornell students are the same way). On the bright side, Ithaca does have the most restaurants per capita in the USA. Which means there will never be a shortage of food (just a shortage of good food).

Road Rage
Hello. I, the decider, have decided to make the executive decision to decidedly shorten my posts. Why? So I can cut out all of the stuff that no one cares about. And make it funnier overall. And I'm already rambling on.
You know what I've realized during my time here?
Whoever said that
Boston drivers suck has not
Been to Ithaca
I've heard all my life that Boston drivers are horrible, that they honk and are violent, and will throw red shells at you. The truth, however, is that Boston drivers are not all that bad. They will often let you merge, and are successfully able to complete a bottleneck without any honking (that's when traffic is funneled, it isn't some cool trick involving a halfpipe). Ithaca drivers, on the other hand, seem to be straight out of GTA. If you think that crosswalks hold any bearing in Ithaca, you won't last long here at all. It probably has to do with all of the waiting that they have to do for the 20,000 students to cross the street. Which begs the question: why drive a car on Cornell's campus anyway? That is all. Now, I'll go to class and try not to get run over.
